Abstract for an initial approach to personalized services
in time management

Author's Note

Chronobiology research has established standards for human rhythms from observation and biological laboratory data.
I have observed that most of us do not have this "standard" rhythm.
ChronoDynamie® has been conceived as a method based on comparisons between this time standard and the true behavior of historical personalities whose daily habits are known (Proust, Balzac, Napoleon, Marx and many others), on my own daily behavior and that of my "guinea pigs" since 1991.
This will be expanded in the texts about ChronoDynamie® and their application (available on Internet  http://www.chronodynamie.com as they appear), or can be ordered direct from ChronoDynamie® e-mail services.

ChronoDynamie® (or more familiarly C/D® - CD on Internet) is a personalized time management system. This new management concept highlights your natural form rhythms during the course of 24 hours.
You will certainly have noticed that at certain times during the day you have low moments.   Try as hard as you can, you can't get moving and you make mistakes.

And it's often worse when you are led by the common idea that only effort is valid and that we must always "be doing something". These down periods are normal however as they represent recuperation periods which are necessary for your general balance. They are linked to your own internal clock which is calculated by ChronoDynamie® .

You will be much more efficient if you work during the moments you are on form and you will be less tired. By speeding up when your form is at peak, you will get through your work in shorter time and with less likelihood of failure.

You will know how to manage your stress. You won't feel guilty and you will dare stop working for short periods or even have a siesta if necessary; it's no use forcing yourself to be active when your organism needs its batteries recharged.

ChronoDynamie® prevents time and energy waste and the optimization of time for work and leisure activities. It prevents problems at work, reduces accidents and enables energy recuperation after physical or moral confrontations. It helps keep you on good form and full of energy at all stages through life.

Graphs: figures correspond to high and low energy hours, the vertical bars to half-hourly divisions.

Your personal cycle tables are to be read from left to right, from 0 to 24 hours in hours, and from bottom to top from 0 to 100% in hour / energy.

Hours are indicated in standard time (blue) and in daylight saving time (red).

Unless otherwise stated, your C/D is calculated for the time zone in which you live, but can be calculated for other time zones (useful for international businessmen for example, as well as for your holidays abroad).

YOUR FORM

The graphs give you information about your possibilities.  FORM is a general average. It takes your potential activity and efficiency potential into account (according to our calculations which remain our trade secret).
The more your form rises, the more your possibilities expand. You become interested in a wide number of subjects and your ideas are stimulated. You are borne along by positive impulses: initiatives, starting up of activities, ease of action. Above the blue waterline you are more on form.
As the graph tends downwards, you have less energy. You are prey to negative influences: stress, hesitations, doubts, 'angst', stumbling blocks. Below the blue line , your form is lower. If your graph passes from a very high phase to a very low one - oh dear, oh dear! The fall will be heavier: learn to relax when the downturn starts.

A balance is obtained at around 50% energy (from 40 to 60% hour  / energy).
You have a good level of dynamism as from 40% energy.

In order to obtain good quality results, time schedules should be organized in hourly periods above 40% energy. This is the waterline (blue) and you'll sink below it.  Try and have a rest or work on what is easy at this time.

Your FORM graph represents your primordial energies. Set your record straight. Try to follow the rhythm of your personal tide. You will find a natural manner, coherence, balance and harmony - a feeling of well-being with yourself, those around you and the entire world .

YOUR FORM AND YOUR MOTIVATION

Sometimes your form sinks but you can't stop moving, acting. Look at your motivation graph. The higher it is the more you will remain either positively or negatively stimulated by outside circumstances.

When your form sinks, you can still forge ahead by motivating yourself by using will-power. But don't make the mistake of continuing to work under pressure from someone else or of life. If not, life will catch you up and you will be forced to stop. People who work for a long time under motivation appear to be more vulnerable than others in the long term, and can develop serious problems from having overstepped the mark for too long. Even if you feel like being busy, choose occupations which don't tire you too much (leisure activities, visiting friends, shopping, etc. not having important consequences).

Your FORM components: ACTIVITY AND EFFICIENCY

Your activity graph shows your overall possibilities, your availability and your capacities for exchanging, linking ideas and facts. You will see if you are more a "day" person than a "night" one,  but this graph is not to be used by itself. It does not take account of positive or negative affects which confront us during the day, expressed by the optimism and stress graphs, which control Motivation, your ease or difficulty in adapting yourself to outside constraints.

You are more or less efficient according to your affects. The efficiency graph can tone down your activity possibilities, or on the contrary can highlight them. If there is a marked difference between the activity and efficiency graph, you may be tempted to do much more that you can reasonably do, but reason is perhaps not one of your main characteristics... Try to select the essentials to avoid frustration.

When these two graphs are synchronized, your actions are easier to perform and you feel in harmony with your desires and your needs.  But this ideal is rarely achieved and explains why your efforts do not always lead to the results aimed at.

Motivation components: OPTIMISM AND STRESS

These graphs follow the evolution of your state of mind. They enable you to accept both your good and bad moments and to understand changes in humor of a child, your spouse, a friend, a colleague whose ChronoDynamie® you know.

When the stress graph passes above the optimism graph you will probably be strained, over-sensitive, depressed, bad-tempered. When the optimism graph dominates, you will regain confidence, hope, good-naturednes and cheerfulness.

Your FORM varies during the day

The 40% bar indicates the minimal level for good performance

The FORM graph (making performance possible) depends on activity and efficiency possibilities.
It should be interpreted with the MOTIVATION graph which is the background. The MOTIVATION graph depends on stress and optimism graphs. These stimuli give the energy to push yourself to the limits through will-power, under the effect of a "pressure" which can be excessive and dangerous.
Stress is an energy factor because it helps one to adapt to outside circumstances, but for short periods only!
Don't make a habit of it or you'll have a breakdown! The crossing point between stress and optimism graphs represent critical moments with "knots" to be untangled.
C/D helps you organize your days without being under permanent pressure. As far as possible, adapt your time schedule in order to follow your FORM graph.
You will thus avoid crashes and obtain better long term results and a better quality of life.

ChronoDynamie YEAR/SEASONS valid throughout the year whatever the time zone.

Follow your yearly FORM graph wherever possible in order to extend your efforts and activities over several months. Plan your long term projects in relation to your yearly possibilities
Begin new projects in the upward trend of your FORM and work at maximum during long phases of more than 40%. Keep your zeal moderate, finish any work in progress when the form graph goes below the fatigue level of 40% energy (blue line). Low phases can correspond to activities needing concentration, for collecting information or knowledge and which reduce movement or displacements (20%=risk threshold). Try to take your vacations when your form goes below 20% (red line) to avoid exhaustion. You need to have holidays which are more or less long according to your rhythm. Your recuperation capacities can be at a"sprinter" rhythm for rapid recuperation, or at a "marathon" rate for a slow and deep recuperation, or even be an alternation of fast and slow.
Your annual form graph also influences the energy of your days.
Set up your C/D DAY and C/D YEAR  graphs in a good place. Use them together for better long term results and a better quality of life.

There is no other service like ChronoDynamie® which was  conceived to respond to needs and lacks of individual organizational techniques. C/D can be adapted to meet the requirements of every individual by providing all existing methods which promote a better way of living (physical fitness, work, leisure activities). It enhances your daily organization in the best framework possible and guarantees stable family relations and social balance.

C/D is valid for all your life if you remain within the same time zone. If you travel widely, C/D adapts itself to the legal time pertaining to countries visited.  Tables adapted to  your business or holiday programs are available on request.

Though ChronoDynamie® remains valid throughout your life, you will use the method differently according to your age, your life style, your education, your habits, your country's climate, the season, the daily weather. Moon phases which are essentially very fluid,  can alter your perception; they are not taken into account for ChronoDynamie calculations. It is your own natural rhythm which enables you to know how to exploit your possibilities to the maximum, according to whether you are on your best form in the morning, afternoon, evening or night.

There are seasonal variations which you will learn to understand by calculating your yearly C/D. Variations can be due to different causes, such as, for example, necessities relating to other people or to weather constraints. These variations can change during life in accordance with your needs. In fact, it is not a change in your rhythm, but a change in your use of it. This rhythm change will be explained for all major life periods.
Through following your basic rhythm, in adjusting your biological time clock, you will be in the best position to avoid misunderstandings about yourself; you will consequently improve your contacts with others and develop your unexploited potentials.

The C/D FORM IN DAILY LIFE brochure is available for further details and is aimed at each individual in a family - available through free downloading on site for ChronoDynamie® clients - (in French for the moment).

SOME EXAMPLES OF FORM GRAPHS

chronotypes
(green FORM graph to be followed for optimal organization)

 GRAPH PREDOMINANTLY HIGH : "DYNAMISM"

If your graph indicates more time for activity than for rest and is often above the 50% average, you may have difficulty in being able to really relax, particularly at night. Take advantage of all the downturns in the form graph to take "time off". Learn to turn your pressure down. Don't over-exert your life forces. And don't wear down everyone surrounding you. Accept people who don't have your advantages...

HIGH GRAPH DURING THE DAY
If the graph reaches high summits during the day, you'll probably daydream, have too many ideas at once, feel feverish, all with no results....C/D can help you to streamline this energy excess.

GRAPHS LIKE SAW -TEETH: "COMMUNICATION"

You are a "sprinter". You go from high to low. You like launching ideas and perhaps getting  someone with a more constant rhythm to carry them out! You like dynamic, quick action. You often need to change your activities. You must learn to concentrate over short periods. Learn to manage your stress and to relax during downturns because you can quickly recuperate your energy. A ten-minute break can help you in the low periods of under 40% (under 20% complete rest is essential). Don't try to work in linear sequences: follow your quick rate of progress and obtain the help of less volatile partners to support you.

HIGH GRAPH DURING THE NIGHT: "INSPIRATION"

This doesn't mean that you've got to stay awake all night! But you are more a nightingale than a lark. You can be active when other people are resting. You will be in an excellent position if you can find a profession requiring night work. This could be useful and precious in circumstances (when you need to finish some work, to travel, or if you are wanting to accomplish an exploit in sport, or exceptional adventures); in other words, in every instance where sleeping time is difficult to manage and makes the difference in the results aimed at You'll see that ideas come during waking hours or in your dreams - note them! - they can be the best you have.

LOW GRAPH DURING MOST OF THE DAY: "REFLECTION"

This doesn't mean you can do nothing! You need to concentrate more: your rhythm is slower, you need a lot of time to finish your activities, but you work in depth. Use the upturns in your graph to start up and give dynamism to your activities. You probably  don't  feel in time with the social habits of general daytime activity so try and find work where you can choose your work time. The down graph in the afternoon is adapted to life in hot countries where the siesta is part of a way of life. A siesta could also prove beneficial to you.

CONSTANT GRAPH : "ACHIEVEMENT"

You are a "marathon runner" with endurance, inner strength, concentration and with the force of a steam-roller. You complement the  "sprinter" chrono- type. Your graph doesn't rise very high, but you are solid as a rock. You're always ready to work and you like achieving large projects. You need time to finish your activities. And you remain resistant, tenacious and vigilant in all circumstances.
